Description:

Keeping track of information retrieved from databases can be a daunting task.  This session will discuss the benefits of using a reference management program to organize research via an overview of RefWorks, one of 2 web-based reference management programs supported by KRS.  We will go over the key features of this program, guiding and encouraging you to begin exploring this program following the session.  1 hour

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the definition of reference managers
  • Appreciate the benefits of using a reference management software program
  • Explore the key features of New RefWorks

Who Should Attend?

As listed in the KRS FAQs, http://krs.libanswers.com/faq/128996, RefWorks is intended for AHS staff and groups where research is deemed to be the primary area of focus.  If you or your unit/department regularly request literature searches and/or conduct your own research for the purposes of further dissemination (i.e. sharing results with fellow AHS colleagues at meetings, education sessions, etc.), or if the intent of the research is towards publishing in an academic journal, then this course is for you.

Please see our course on Mendeley if you are conducting a small-scale research project for your own use or working in a small team of 3 people or less.

In What Ways Does KRS Provide Assistance with Reference Management?

While we are more than happy to meet with AHS staff to demonstrate citation principles and program features, as well as provide troubleshooting support for various reference management issues that may arise.  However, we regret that we do not have the capacity to perform in-text citation analysis and/or format documents for presentation/publication.
